British model Naomi Campbell is not only beauty and controversy, she also ventured into the fashion market, with at least seven perfumes to date. Here is the review of two of my favorite, Mystery and Naomagic.
Mystery is a sensual fragrance, with a night soul. It has a note that reminds of Elixir des Merveilles by Hermess, but without the gourmand style.
In the opening, there are notes of bitter orange or another type of citrus, but they will lower their intensity after 30 minutes, when the middle phase starts, in favour of resins and iris. In the base notes, the floral disappears, and the resin will remain the main note, blending with oriental notes, mild woods and vanilla.
Mystery is a romantic and nocturnal fragrance, it can be worn in an office as it’s not so intense to be intrusive, but informal occasions (first dates especially) are probably more indicated. In spite of the floral notes, it’s a very warm fragrance (it’s like Fendi perfume for women, where the florals will tame, but won’t prevail over the notes of resins and the sweetness). The best time of the year would be winter, and for women over 30.
If Mystery is the night, Naomagic is the day. When I first sprayed it I really hoped that the perfume would be better than the name and it was. The first notes are very fresh and citrus, with bergamot, oranges and violets (it almost feels like a shampoo), but they rapidly change to almonds, lilies and jasmine in the middle phase. The almonds are slightly sweet, as if they were covered with sugar (the same effect can be found in Nina Ricci Premier Jour). In the base there are mild woods, vanilla and musk. The best scenario for this Naomi Campbell perfume would be the office, any time of the year, for women between 25 and 40.
