Crime Came To My Neighborhood

I live in a middle class neighborhood in Panama City, Florida. Crime has never existed in my neighborhood for the 17 years that I have lived here until about 6 months ago. One of my neighbors house was broken into under the cover of darkness and all of their valuable possessions were stolen. Needless to say, this freaked out our entire neighborhood and put a lot of people into a semi-panic stage. For most of the 17 years that I have lived here, I never even locked my doors at night while I slept. Now, it’s not uncommon to see trucks and vans from security and alarm companies parked in driveways when I come home from work each night. It seems that this event has prompted a lot of my neighbors to install security systems in their homes now. Personally, I think it’s a good idea. I’m in the research stage myself looking for a complete and affordable home alarm system to protect my home and family.

Video surveillance systems come with most of the security systems nowadays and I definitely want to be able to view live video on my Android phone when I’m not at home. If something were to happen at my house, the security system will send an alert to your phone and you can view video of the incident on your smartphone. I think that is a very important feature for the type of home alarm system I’m interested in getting. Since my home was built 17 years ago, I don’t have all the wiring in place that I need, so I will be installing wireless surveillance cameras and try to conceal them the best way I can behind my security lights under the eaves of my home. I will most likely opt for the monthly home monitoring service that most companies offer. I have found a good reliable company that offers home monitoring for $25 per month and that is a small price to pay when crime comes to your neighborhood. I just want to keep my family and my property safe while the world seems to be going crazy around us.
